It’s all about the right needle!
First and foremost, be sure to purchase the correct needle system for your machine. The easiest thing to do to ensure you’re getting the correct needle system is to simply purchase your needles from a Handi Quilter retailer. That way you can’t go wrong! All Handi Quilter longarm machines use needle system 134. You will find the number right on the front of the package.

| Size 12 Needle | For use with finer threads and fabrics, such as silk. Recommended for use with the HQ Sweet Sixteen machine or when using the HQ Micro Handles for micro-quilting or when quilting on the HQ Infinity. |
| Size 14 Needle | For use with finer threads and fabrics, such as silk. Recommended for use with the HQ Sweet Sixteen machine or when using the HQ Micro Handles for micro-quilting or when quilting on the HQ Infinity. |
| Size 16 Needle | For general quilting and average threads. They also work well with “invisible”, monofilament thread. Recommended for use when quilting on the HQ Infinity. |
| Size 18 Needle | For thicker threads or tightly woven fabrics such as some batiks. They also work well with metallics and decorative thread. |
